Regular Season Round 37: Kumamoto V. - Shinshu BW 76-67

Rather predictable result when second ranked Kumamoto V. (25-11) defeated at home 5th ranked Shinshu BW (16-19) 76-67 on Sunday. Strangely Shinshu BW outrebounded Kumamoto V. 38-26 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Kumamoto V.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Tim Dezelski (198-90, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Kumamoto V. maintains second place with 25-11 record having four points less than leader Gunma. Loser Shinshu BW keeps the fifth position with 19 games lost. Kumamoto V. will face Orange Vikings (#3) in Matsuyama in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Shinshu BW will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyotsu FE and hope to win that game.
