The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Ciclista's (11-13) road loss to fifth ranked Estudiantes O. (13-13) 89-101 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Estudiantes O. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Ciclista was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Alejo Montes-Cardozo (188-91) stepped up and scored 23 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Joaquin Gamazo (198-91) chipped in 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Estudiantes O.'s coach Alvaro Castineira used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Brazilian forward Rodrigo Goncalves (203-87) with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Cuban forward Karel Guzman (188-95) scored 24 points and 4 steals. Four Estudiantes O. and five Ciclista players scored in double figures. Estudiantes O. maintains fifth place in South with 13-13 record. Ciclista lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Estudiantes O. will face higher ranked Parque Sur (#3) in Concepcion de Urug. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
