We should mention about the upset which took place in Baskonia, where higher ranked Myrtia (9-11) lost to fourteenth ranked Fundacion 5+11 (8-13) in a road game 68-75 on Sunday. Fundacion 5+11 dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Myrtia's 28. They outrebounded Myrtia 39-26 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fundacion 5+11 made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Rodney Williams (201-93, college: Drexel) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Brazilian power forward Daniel Bordignon (203-96) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds. French guard Kevin Franceschi (190-93, college: Oklah.Baptist) produced 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fundacion 5+11 have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Fundacion 5+11 maintains fourteenth position with 8-13 record. Myrtia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Fundacion 5+11 will face higher ranked Albacete (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
