Regular Season Round 20: Martorell - La Roda 75-80

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Martorell (4-16) was defeated at home by second ranked La Roda (15-5) 80-75 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-75. Martorell was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Jose Blazquez (197-97) chipped in 17 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Nil Bria (195-97) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and Sudanese center Deng Mayot (218-97) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Martorell's coach Adria Alonso tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. La Roda keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Granada. Martorell at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom place with 16 games lost. La Roda will face Zamorano (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Martorell will play against Myrtia in Murcia and hope to win that game.
