Regular Season Round 20: Asseco - BM Slam Stal 78-79

Important game to mention about took place in Gdynia. Fifth ranked BM Slam Stal (13-8) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 9th ranked Asseco (11-10) 79-78 on Monday evening. Asseco was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Aaron Johnson (173-88, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 assists. Croatian forward Jure Skific (202-88, agency: 011 Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. BM Slam Stal's coach Emil Rajkovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Marcel Ponitka (195-97) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Asseco. Four Asseco players scored in double figures. BM Slam Stal have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with MKS DG. Loser Asseco keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. BM Slam Stal will face Start (#6) in Lublin in the next round. Asseco will play on the road against GTK in Gliwice and hope to win that game.
