Regular Season Round 38: Abejas - Libertadores 85-90

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Guanajuato where 9th ranked Abejas (13-21) were defeated by tenth ranked Libertadores (9-25) 90-85. American guard Brent Jackson (192-94, college: Columbus St., agency: Paris Global Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) supported him with 24 points. Jackson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Libertadores players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 7 rebounds by Nigerian-American power forward Ike Okoye (206-86, college: Boise St.) did not help to save the game for Abejas. American forward Greg Smith (198-91, college: Colorado St.) added 19 points for the hosts. Newly promoted Libertadores maintains tenth position with 9-25 record. Abejas at the other side keep the ninth place with 21 games lost. Libertadores will play against bottom-ranked Panteras (#11) in Aguascalientes in the next round. Abejas will play on the road against Aaguacateros in Michoacan and hope to get back on the winning track.
