The game in Rethymno was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked AEK (10-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Cretan Kings (7-9). AEK managed to secure a 5-point victory 95-90 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 30-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. AEK made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Cretan Kings only scored eleven points from the stripe. AEK looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by the former international center Dimitris Mavroeidis (208-85, agency: Octagon Europe) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American swingman Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) supported him with 23 points. Five AEK players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Shaquille Goodwin (206-94, college: Memphis) did not help to save the game for Cretan Kings. His fellow American import point guard Stefan Moody (179-93, college: Mississippi) added 25 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AEK have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Lavrio and Promitheas. Loser Cretan Kings keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Kymis. AEK will meet at home Kolossos HH (#6) in the next round. Cretan Kings will play against Lavrio and hope to secure a win.
