A1 top team - Panathinaikos (16-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked G.Larissa-Faros (5-11) in Athens 103-70. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Panathinaikos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. G.Larissa-Faros was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of American Kenny Gabriel (209-89, college: Auburn) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import power forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) who added 11 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Nontas Papantoniou (190-90) responded with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Dutch power forward Roeland Schaftenaar (211-88, college: Oregon St.) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-0 record. G.Larissa-Faros lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Panathinaikos will play against Promitheas (#5) in Patras in the next round. G.Larissa-Faros will play at home against Kymis (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
