Regular Season Round 23: Sestu - Catanzaro 63-81

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Catanzaro (11-12) defeated on the road 13th ranked Sestu (7-16) 81-63 on Thursday. They outrebounded Sestu 40-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Argentinian guard Nicolas Morici (192-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized San Marino power forward Igor Biordi (204-96) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Catanzaro players scored in double figures. Daniele Locci (192-94) responded with 18 points and Giuliano Samoggia (200-83) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Catanzaro moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Desio and Padova. Newly promoted Sestu keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Catanzaro will face Scauri (#8) at home in the next round. Sestu will play against the league's second-placed Palestrina (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
