Regular Season Round 20: Vitoria - Campo Mourao 88-79

Date: February 15, 2018
Very expected game in Salvador where 14th ranked Campo Mourao (3-18) was defeated by seventh ranked Universo/Vitoria (11-10) 88-79 on Thursday. Universo/Vitoria outrebounded Campo Mourao 42-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Andre Bresolin (195-87) who added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Universo/Vitoria's coach Regis Marrelli allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Greg Brown (188-94, college: St.Francis, PA) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and Uruguayan-Italian point guard Emiliano Giano (180-89) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Universo/Vitoria maintains seventh position with 11-10 record. Campo Mourao lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 18 games lost. Universo/Vitoria will face league's leader Paulistano in Sao Paulo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Campo Mourao will play on the road against SKY/Basquete (#11) in Aldeota and hope to win that game.
