Regular Season Round 19: Hottur - Tindastoll 68-80
Date: February 15, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Egilsstadir where 12th ranked Hottur (2-17) was defeated by fourth ranked Tindastoll (14-5) 80-68. The game without a history. Tindastoll led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Hottur was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Petur Birgisson (185-96) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Antonio Hester (198-90, college: Mobile, AL) accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman, agency: Athleadz) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Kelvin Lewis (195-88, college: Houston) added 20 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for Hottur in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tindastoll have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with IR. Newly promoted Hottur stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Tindastoll will play against KR (#4) in Reykjavik in the next round. Hottur will play on the road against Thor Thorl (#9) in Thorlakshofn and hopes to get back on the winning track.
