Regular Season Round 17: Tartu Ulikool - Valga 82-70

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tartu. Second ranked Tartu Ulikool faced 4th placed Valga. Host Tartu Ulikool (13-6) defeated guests from Valga (11-9) 82-70. The game was mostly controlled by Tartu Ulikool. Valga was better in fourth quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valga was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Janar Talts (206-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Lithuanian forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-90) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Latvian power forward Maris Ziedins (203-90) answered with 10 points and 8 rebounds and guard Edgars Lasenbergs (189-95) added 11 points and 6 assists in the effort for Valga. Valga's coach Kristaps Zeids tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tartu Ulikool have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-6 record having five points less than leader Kalev/Cramo. Valga at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Tartu Ulikool will again play against Valga (#4) on the road in the next round. Valga will have a break next round.
