Regular Season Round 20: Mogi - Caxias do Sul 76-75

Eighth-ranked Caxias do Sul (10-11) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Mogi (15-4) in Mogi das Cruzes on Friday. Mogi managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Mogi outrebounded Caxias do Sul 36-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) who added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Mogi's coach Jorge Guerra used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Alex Oliveira (196-83) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and center Marcao Vinicius (205-84) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Mogi and five Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. Mogi moved-up to third place. Caxias do Sul lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Mogi are looking forward to face Joinville (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caxias do Sul will play against Liga Sorocaba (#15) in Sorocabana and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
