There was no surprise in Hyogo where 6th ranked Nishinomiya S. (7-31) was defeated by second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (22-16) 83-76 on Friday. American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center Nagayoshi Yuya (199-91) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Yu Okada (184-83) produced 17 points and 4 assists and American forward Herbert Hill (208-84, college: Providence) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kyoto Hannar.. They maintain second place with 22-16 record having seven points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Hitachi SR. Nishinomiya S. lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with 31 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face Tochigi Brex (#5) at home in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
