Regular Season Round 34: Helsinki Seagulls - Kouvot 96-77

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Helsinki. Second ranked Helsinki Seagulls faced 3rd ranked Kouvot. Host Helsinki Seagulls (19-12) smashed guests from Kouvola (17-13) 96-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kouvot. The game without a history. Helsinki Seagulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: SDJ Sports) fired 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: Long Beach St.) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. Helsinki Seagulls' coach Mikko Larkas used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Tuomas Hirvonen (181-96) added 20 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Helsinki Seagulls maintains second position with 19-12 record having eight points less than leader Salon Vilpas, which they share with Kauhajoki. Kouvot at the other side dropped to the fourth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Pyrinto. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
