The game between sixth ranked Aaguacateros (19-17) and 9th ranked Abejas (13-23) in Michoacan on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Aaguacateros outscored guests from Guanajuato 100-80. Aaguacateros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Puerto Rican forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St.) who scored that evening 28 points and the former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) supported him with 24 points. Four Aaguacateros players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by Nigerian-American power forward Ike Okoye (206-86, college: Boise St.) did not help to save the game for Abejas. International forward Marco Ramos (198-87, college: Grand Canyon) added 19 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aaguacateros maintains sixth position with 19-17 record. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 23 games lost. Aaguacateros will meet bottom-ranked Panteras (#11) in the next round where they are favorite. Abejas will play against Toros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
