Regular Season Round 39: Mineros - Capitanes 82-81

This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Capitanes (22-14) to first ranked Mineros (25-11) 82-81 on Friday evening. Mineros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: KMG Sports Management) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Mineros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Mineros maintains first place with 25-11 record. Capitanes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the third position with 14 games lost. Mineros are again looking forward to face Capitanes (#3) in Mexico in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Capitanes will have a break next round.
