Regular Season Round 23: Pogon RS - Rzeszow 80-108

There was a surprise result in Ruda Slaska where eleventh ranked Rzeszow (9-14) smashed higher ranked Pogon RS (11-12) 108-80 on Saturday. Rzeszow dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Pogon RS's 52. Rzeszow forced 20 Pogon RS turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for guard Maciej Zmudka (191-82) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists. Guard Krzysztof Banys (185-84) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. Five Rzeszow players scored in double figures. Center Tomasz Stankala (202-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Patryk Jelen (183-90) scored 26 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rzeszow moved-up to ninth place in Group C, which they share with Przemysl. Loser Pogon RS keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Rzeszow will face league's second-placed AZS AWF Mick. in Katowice in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
