Regular Season Round 15: Proteas - Panionios 69-64

The game between third ranked Panionios (11-4) and ninth ranked Proteas (5-10) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Panionios was defeated by Proteas in a tough game in Voula 64-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panionios. Proteas forced 27 Panionios turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Alexis Govan (178-93, college: W.Kentucky) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Her fellow American import Labrittney Jones (185-95, college: Arizona) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Katie Healy (185-94, college: St.Bonaventure) who recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Aikaterini Spatharou (172-83) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Proteas maintains ninth place with 5-10 record. Panionios at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Proteas are looking forward to face higher ranked Athinaikos (#5) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panionios will play at home against Panathlitikos and is hoping to win this game.
