Regular Season Round 18: Psychiko - Ethnikos 71-73

A very close game took place in Athens between Ethnikos and Psychiko. Eighth ranked Ethnikos (9-9) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Psychiko (8-10). Ethnikos managed to escape with a 2-point win 73-71 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-71. Center Kostas Macheras (205-85) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Paraskevas Martzos (197-85) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) with 17 points and 7 assists and forward Petros Noeas (204-87) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ethnikos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 9-9 record, which they share with Ermis Agias. Psychiko lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Marousi. Ethnikos will meet league's leader Peristeri GS in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Psychiko will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#6) and hope to secure a win.
