Regular Season Round 25: Tochigi Brex - Shimane SM 79-61

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Shimane Magic (7-31) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (21-17) 79-61 on Saturday. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) chipped in 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 21-17 record which they share with defeated Shimane Magic. Shimane Magic lost their twelfth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 31 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shimane Magic will play against San-en NeoPhoenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
