Regular Season Round 24: UCAM Murcia II - Valencia II 79-72

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked UCAM Murcia II's (14-4) home victory over 3rd ranked Valencia-2 (12-6) 79-72 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-21. But Valencia-2 won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Valencia-2 39-28 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Sergio Mendiola (207-96) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Imanol Artinano (203, college: Alders.-Broad.) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. UCAM Murcia II's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Josep Puerto (199-99) replied with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Jon Galarza (193-97) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Valencia-2. UCAM Murcia II keeps a position of Group E leader, which they share with Gandia. Valencia-2 lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with six games lost. UCAM Murcia II will face Begastri (#12) in Cehegin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Valencia-2 will play on the road against Cartagena (#7) and hope to win that game.
