Regular Season Round 19: Barca CBS - Ascensores Tresa 59-67

There was an upset when 4th placed Barca CBS (12-7) lost to eleventh ranked Ascensores Tresa (6-13) in Barcelona 59-67 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 19-5 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Ascensores Tresa dominated on the defensive end, holding Barca CBS to just 5 points in third quarter. It was a very good performance for American forward Riley Nordgaard (178-93, college: Montana St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Serbian forward Katarina Vuckovic (190-94, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Ascensores Tresa players scored in double figures. American guard Sheila Dixon (178, college: Brown) answered with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Regina Aguilar added 11 points in the effort for Barca CBS. Newly promoted Ascensores Tresa maintains eleventh place in Group A with 6-13 record. Barca CBS lost their third game in a row. Barca CBS at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Ascensores Tresa will face higher ranked Cortegada (#6) in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barca CBS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Barcelona to the arena Segle XXI.
