Regular Season Round 19: Distrito Olimpico - Alcobendas 56-64

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Distrito Olimpico (4-14) lost to sixth ranked Alcobendas (12-7) in Madrid 56-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-56. It was a very good performance for center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Paula Palomares (173-84) contributed with 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Alcobendas' coach Alex Pajares used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Power forward Elena Diaz (188-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and center Daira Varas (193-89) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Distrito Olimpico. Four Distrito Olimpico players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alcobendas. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Picken Claret and Real Canoe. Distrito Olimpico lost their ninth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Alcobendas will face CVCD Granada (#9) at home in the next round. Distrito Olimpico's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Olimpico 64.
