Joventut LC managed to secure a 8-point victory 59-51 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 33-18 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Joventut LC dominated on the defensive end, holding Cortegada to just 6 points in first quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Eliana Soriano who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Paula Tutusaus (186-95) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) came up with 12 points and Cristina Loureiro (183-94) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for Cortegada in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Joventut LC. They maintain seventh place in Group A with 10-9 record. Loser Cortegada keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Joventut LC will meet higher ranked Aros Patatas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cortegada will play against Ascensores Tresa in Gijon and hope to secure a win.
