Regular Season Round 21: Quilmes MP - Penarol 96-98

Date: February 17, 2018
A very interesting game took place in Mar del Plata. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 18th ranked Quilmes MP (6-14) to sixteenth ranked Penarol (8-11) 98-96 on Saturday evening. Penarol made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. 30 personal fouls committed by Quilmes MP helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: HMS) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Lamonte is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Penarol's coach Marcelo Macias allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International guard Eric Flor (186-93) answered with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Puerto Rican Ricardo Sanchez (212-87, agency: BeoBasket) added 22 points in the effort for Quilmes MP. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Penarol moved-up to fourteenth place. Quilmes MP at the other side keeps the eighteenth position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
