Regular Season Round 19: Kerasan - Bashkimi 56-106

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Kerasan (4-15) in Prishtina on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by second ranked Bashkimi (14-4) 106-56. Bashkimi dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Kerasan's 42. Bashkimi forced 19 Kerasan turnovers and outrebounded them 58-32 including a 41-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Kerasan's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Vincent Zollo (206-92, college: Cleveland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Altin Morina (194-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. D Haxhosaj answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Mergim Jakupi (203-97) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kerasan. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kerasan's coach Dritero Sefaja gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Bashkimi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-4 record having just eight point less than leader Sigal Prishtina. Kerasan lost fifth consecutive game. They still keep top position with 15 games lost. Bashkimi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kerasan will play again at home against the league's second-placed Bashkimi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
