Regular Season Round 24: Chantada - Coruna II 92-70

Date: February 17, 2018
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Chantada (15-7) crushed at home 14th ranked Coruna II (7-15) 92-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Chantada. Coruna II was better in fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Coruna II 42-18 including a 30-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chantada made 8 blocks. It was a good game for Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American swingman Charles Knowles (196-93, college: William Penn) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Pablo Ferreiro (187-98) added 9 points in the effort for Coruna II. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chantada have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group A-B with 15-7 record having just four point less than leader Vic. Newly promoted Coruna II dropped to the fifteenth place with 15 games lost. Chantada will face Betanzos (#6) at home in the next round. Coruna II will play against Ponferrada CDP (#8) and hope to win that game.
