Regular Season Round 24: San Juan - Utrera 65-97

Everything could happen in San Juan del Puerto at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Utrera and 9th ranked San Juan had identical 7-10 record. But San Juan was not able to use a home court advantage and was outleveled by the opponent from Utrera 97-65 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-65. Utrera dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to San Juan's 20 and made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded San Juan 36-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Juan was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Montenegrin power forward Zoran Vilotijevic (206-90) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Alejandro Fierro (186-99) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Utrera players scored in double figures. Utrera's coach Agust?n Moreno felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Javi Rodriguez replied with 32 points and 4 steals and guard Antonio Rodriguez (185-78) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for San Juan. Utrera (8-10) moved-up to sixth place in Group D-B, which they share with San Fernando and Benahavis. Loser San Juan keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
