Regular Season Round 18: Koping Stars - Alvik Basket 100-87

Leader Koping Stars delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Alvik Basket (8-10) 100-87. It looked good early as Alvik Basket took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Koping Stars had a 26-18 second period charge getting the lead and Alvik Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 87-100. Koping Stars shot 26 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Alvik Basket only scored nine points from the stripe. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Alvik Basket was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international swingman Sean Smith (198-87, college: NC-Asheville) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian guard Aleksa Solevic (188-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 24 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Richard Hartmann (203-89) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Papy Ndiaye (190-94) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Alvik Basket. Four Alvik Basket players scored in double figures. Alvik Basket's coach Bernat Camprubi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Koping Stars (16-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Alvik Basket at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Koping Stars will play against Malbas (#8) in Malmo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alvik Basket will play on the road against AIK Basket in Solna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
