There was no surprise in Athens where 12th ranked Papagou (6-12) was defeated by second ranked Iraklis (15-3) 89-76. The game without a history. Iraklis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. 26 personal fouls committed by Papagou helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) notched 21 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and power forward Georgios Georgakis (204-91) supported him with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. Even 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) did not help to save the game for Papagou. Swingman Kostas Dedes (194-85) added 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Iraklis have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-3 record having just three points less than leader Peristeri GS, which they share with Holargos. Newly promoted Papagou keeps the twelfth place with 12 games lost. Iraklis' next round opponent will be Apollon Patras (#5) at home. Papagou's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Marousi.
