Rather expected game in Tokyo where 4th placed Hitachi Sunrockers (22-16) were defeated by first ranked Ryukyu GK (30-8) 84-77 on Saturday. International forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) fired 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) chipped in 19 points. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) produced 23 points and Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ryukyu GK. They maintain first place with 30-8 record, which they share with SeaHorses. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers dropped to the second position with 16 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face Osaka Evessa (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against the league's second-placed Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
