Very expected game when 11th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (6-24) was defeated at home by third ranked Kauhajoki (19-12) 93-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Lapuan Korikobrat managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Lapuan Korikobrat's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 23 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Stephen Maxwell (201-93, college: CS Northridge, agency: Two Points) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Kauhajoki's coach Jussi Laakso allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Nick Kellogg (190-91, college: Ohio) responded with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Puerto Rican-American forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) scored 21 points. Four Lapuan Korikobrat players scored in double figures. Kauhajoki moved-up to second place, which they share with Helsinki Seagulls. Lapuan Korikobrat lost third consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat stay dead last with 24 lost games. Kauhajoki will meet at home KTP-Basket (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against Joensuun Kataja and hope to secure a win.
