Regular Season Round 15: Panathinaikos - Faros Keratsiniou 41-67
Date: February 17, 2018
Bottom-ranked Panathinaikos (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 67-41 loss to second ranked Faros Keratsiniou (14-1) in Athens on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Faros Keratsiniou had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Lilia Karakasidou (165-1) who led her team to a victory scoring 15 points. The former international forward Ioanna Diela (175-90) helped adding 11 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Katerina Tsineke (178-99) with 13 points and power forward Chinasa-Cynthia Ezedja (188-0) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Faros Keratsiniou. Newly promoted Faros Keratsiniou maintains second place with 14-1 record behind leader Olympiacos. Panathinaikos lost their fifteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 15 games lost. Faros Keratsiniou will meet at home Niki Lefkadas (#6) in the next round. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Dafni Agioy.
