Regular Season Round 25: Tochigi Brex - Shimane SM 78-45

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Shimane Magic (7-31) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (21-17) 78-45 on Sunday. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Shimane Magic's 26. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tochigi Brex made 10 blocks. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) added 10 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 21-17 record which they share with defeated Shimane Magic. Shimane Magic lost their twelfth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 31 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shimane Magic will play against San-en NeoPhoenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
