Regular Season Round 24: Estudiantes L. - Leon 84-66

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Estudiantes L. (11-11) beat higher ranked Leon (12-10) in Lugo 84-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Estudiantes L.. Leon was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Estudiantes L. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Leon's 30. They outrebounded Leon 46-31 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Senegalese forward Mor Niang (201-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Andres Corral (182-92) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Estudiantes L.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Colby Taylor (198-94, college: Central, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with 13 points and Marcos Garcia (-97) added 14 points in the effort for Leon. Estudiantes L. moved-up to seventh place in Group A-B, which they share with Ponferrada CDP and Innova Chef. Loser Leon keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Estudiantes L. will face Naron (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leon will play against COB (#11) in Ourense and hope to win that game.
