There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Promete (5-13) defeated 8th ranked Magec Tias (8-11) in Logrono 58-40 on Sunday. The game without a history. Promete led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Promete outrebounded Magec Tias 45-27 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Maria-Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Sune Swart (190-95, college: Bucknell) contributed with 6 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Tamara Montero (168-94) added 10 points in the effort for Magec Tias. Promete maintains tenth place in Group B with 5-13 record. Newly promoted Magec Tias keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Promete will face Almeria (#12) on the road in the next round.
