Regular Season Round 24: Culleredo - Carbajosa 67-88
Date: February 18, 2018
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Culleredo (8-14) was outleveled at home by sixth ranked Carbajosa (12-10) 88-67 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-67. Carbajosa dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Culleredo's 40. It was a good game for Trinidad and Tobago-Canadian center Richard Peters (211-93, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Cole Preston (193-95, college: St.Martin's) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Carbajosa's coach Victor Rico felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Miles Burnside (196, college: Dallas Christian) replied with 19 points and center Mario Cabanas (207-85) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Culleredo. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Carbajosa moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with Leon and Betanzos. Culleredo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Carbajosa will face Obradoiro II (#12) in Santiago de Comp in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Culleredo will play at home against the league's second-placed Gijon and hope to win that game.
