There was no surprise when 11th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (6-24) was defeated on the road by third ranked Kauhajoki (19-12) 89-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Lapuan Korikobrat managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 38-21 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kauhajoki looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale, agency: Octagon Europe) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Jussi Turja (194-90) responded with 21 points and American guard Nick Kellogg (190-91, college: Ohio) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Four Lapuan Korikobrat players scored in double figures. Kauhajoki moved-up to second place, which they share with Helsinki Seagulls. Lapuan Korikobrat lost third consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat stay dead last with 24 lost games. Kauhajoki will meet at home KTP-Basket (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against Joensuun Kataja and hope to secure a win.
