Regular Season Round 25: Niigata Albirex - Nagoya DD 91-72

There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Diamond Dolphins (18-20) were crushed on the road by fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (15-23) 91-72 on Sunday. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) produced 25 points and 8 rebounds and forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex maintains fifth place with 15-23 record. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the second position with 20 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Dolphins will play on the road against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
