Regular Season Round 40: Libertadores - Panteras 105-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Libertadores' (11-25) home victory over bottom-ranked Panteras (7-27) in Queretaro 105-94 on Sunday. Libertadores dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 38 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Panteras 36-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Libertadores looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA) who scored that evening 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and guard Brent Jackson (192-94, college: Columbus St., agency: Paris Global Sports) supported him with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Gabbidon is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 22 points and 4 assists by forward Brad Johnson (201, college: Dominican, CA) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) added 15 points and 8 assists for lost side. Four Libertadores and five Panteras players scored in double figures. Libertadores have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Libertadores maintains tenth position with 11-25 record. Panteras lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Libertadores will meet higher ranked Santos (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panteras will play against Aaguacateros and hope to secure a win.
