Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Civitanova (12-11) beat at home 16th ranked Ortona (4-19) 84-67 on Sunday. Civitanova made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Civitanova outrebounded Ortona 40-23 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ortona was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Riccardo Coviello (195-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Lorenzo Andreani (183-87) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Civitanova's coach Raffaele Rossi used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Luca Malfatti (202-90) responded with 18 points and 4 assists and Marcello Crusca (193-70, agency: Interperformances) scored 13 points. Civitanova moved-up to seventh place in B. Loser Ortona keeps the sixteenth position with 19 games lost. Civitanova will face Giulianova (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
