Regular Season Round 19: TuNMKY - Korikouvot 86-80

Rather predictable result in Turun where fifth ranked TuNMKY (13-7) defeated 7th ranked Korikouvot (10-10) 86-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 34-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. TuNMKY dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Korikouvot's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for center Mikael Sandberg (210-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Aubrey Conerly (182-83, college: Jacksonville) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side swingman Vili Nyman (198-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Severi Kaukiainen (185-98) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Five Korikouvot players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. TuNMKY maintains fifth place in Division with 13-7 record. Loser Korikouvot keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. TuNMKY will face league's leader HBA-Marsky in Helsinki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Korikouvot will play on the road against Porvoon Tarmo (#10) and hope to win that game.
