Regular Season Round 22: Bertram Tortona - NPC Rieti 74-78

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked NPC Rieti (11-11) won against on the road higher ranked Bertram Tortona (13-9) 78-74 on Sunday. They outrebounded Bertram Tortona 43-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Bertram Tortona was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American-Nigerian Jamal Olasewere (201-91, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian Paulius Sorokas (202-92, agency: Players Group) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and the former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Bertram Tortona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. NPC Rieti maintains ninth position in A2 with 11-11 record. Loser Bertram Tortona keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. NPC Rieti will face Virtus Roma (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Bertram Tortona will play against the league's leader Novipiu Casale (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
