Regular Season Round 15: Nice - Villeneuve 60-71

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Nice (3-11) was defeated at home by second ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (12-3) 71-60 on Sunday. Villeneuve D'Ascq looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85) who scored 20 points. DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga-Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Antiesha Brown (178-92, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 16 points and international point guard Alix Duchet (165-97) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader Bourges. Nice lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq will meet at home bottom-ranked Roche (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nice will play against Flammes in Charleville and hope to secure a win.
