Regular Season Round 23: Sammic ISB - Forca Lleida 80-75

We should mention about the upset which took place in Azpeitia, where higher ranked Lleida Basquet (10-13) lost to sixteenth ranked Sammic ISB (7-16) in a road game 75-80. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-17. But Lleida Basquet won third quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Center Victor Serrano (211-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Gaizka Maiza (191-96) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Sammic ISB players scored in double figures. Canadian-Jamaican point guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson (178-91, college: Calgary) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian Brano Djukanovic (194-95) added 10 points in the effort for Lleida Basquet. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Sammic ISB maintains sixteenth place with 7-16 record. Lleida Basquet at the other side keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Sammic ISB will play against higher ranked Caceres Basket (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lleida Basquet will play against Leyma Basquet and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
