Regular Season Round 21: Trefl - AZS Koszalin 100-73

Rather predictable result in Sopot where twelfth ranked Trefl (12-11) smashed 15th ranked AZS Koszalin (9-15) 100-73 on Monday. Trefl dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AZS Koszalin's 42. Trefl had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Steve Zack (211-92, college: La Salle) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Aleksandar Marelja (207-92, agency: BeoBasket) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Jakub Dloniak (194-83, agency: Promotex) scored 15 points. Five Trefl and four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Trefl. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Polpharma. Loser AZS Koszalin dropped to the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Trefl will face higher ranked PGE Turow (#7) in Zgorzelec in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS Koszalin will play at home against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#5) and hope to win that game.
