Regular Season Round 23: Hamar - Breidablik 94-91

The most exciting game of round 23 in the D1 took place in Hamar. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Breidablik (15-6) to fourth ranked Hamar (14-6) 94-91 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Breidablik. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Hamar forced 23 Breidablik turnovers. Strangely Breidablik outrebounded Hamar 46-34 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. His fellow American import guard Larry Thomas (185-93, college: Birm.Southern) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hamar's coach Ingvarsson Petur used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Halldor Halldorsson (186-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Breidablik. Five Breidablik players scored in double figures. Hamar maintains fourth place with 14-6 record. Breidablik at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Vestri. Hamar are looking forward to face league's second-placed Vestri in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Breidablik will have a break next round.
