The game in Reykjavik was also quite interesting. Third ranked Vestri (15-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Fjolnir (8-13). Vestri defeated Fjolnir 72-62 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Vestri. Fjolnir managed to win second period 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Vestri won last quarter 19-10. Vestri outrebounded Fjolnir 41-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Nokkvi Hardarson (183-96) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Vestri players scored in double figures. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) came up with 28 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Daniel Fridriksson (175-95) added 11 points and 4 steals respectively for Fjolnir in the defeat. Fjolnir's coach Falur Hardarson rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vestri moved-up to second place, which they share with Breidablik. Fjolnir lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Vestri will meet at home Hamar (#4) in the next round. Fjolnir will play against FSU in Selfoss and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
