Second Stage Round 5: Partizan - Tresnjevka 77-46

Rather expected game in Beograd where 8th ranked Croatian Tresnjevka (3-8) was crushed by sixth ranked Serbian Partizan (5-6) 77-46. The game without a history. Partizan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tresnjevka's 28. Partizan forced 29 Tresnjevka turnovers. Power forward Ivanka Matic (193-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. Olga Stepanovic (178-94) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Karla Erjavec (172-99) answered with 13 points and 4 assists and center Josipa Pavic (187-99) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tresnjevka. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Partizan moved-up to fifth place. Tresnjevka lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Partizan's next round opponent will be Beroe (#7) in Stara Zagora. Tresnjevka will play at home against the league's second-placed Montana 2003 and hope to win that game.
